This is an informal Q&A and discussion session, whereby attendees can bring any research-related question. This session is aimed at those either new to research or starting to develop their research careers.

Facilitators

Harriet Shannon is a physiotherapist based at UCL and is Chair of the London Community for AHP Research (CAHPR) hub. She has over 20 years of research experience, predominantly in the fields of paediatric and cardiorespiratory physiotherapy, using both qualitative and quantitative research methods and is an associate editor for Physiotherapy (UK) and the American Journal of Physical Therapy. She has supervised over 100 MSc research projects and currently supervises 3 NIHR-funded PhD students.

Dr Gemma Clunie is the Lead Clinical Academic for AHPs at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and a Speech and Language Therapist by background. She holds honorary contracts with the Patient Experience Research Centre (PERC) and the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London. She currently supervises three PhD students, and four pre-doctoral students. She holds a five-year NIHR Senior Clinical and Practitioner Research Award (SCPRA) fellowship. In 2024 she won a Surgery & Cancer Seedfund grant to complete a pilot study exploring the use of quantitative muscle ultrasound in head and neck cancer patients. In December 2024 she won the Early Career Researcher Award for Surgery and Cancer.
