CAHPR Northern Ireland Consortium have their own YouTube channel at @cahprnorthernirelandhub.
CAHPR South Central Hub have produced a guide to starting out in clinical academic research.
This is a series of ten films gives advice and tips on becoming a clinical academic. It has been produced by the Enhancing Research Culture Team, including staff from the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton, NIHR ARC Wessex and University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust. It has been funded with support from UKRI Research England.
Research suggests that involvement in clinical research enhances care processes, fosters a culture of improvement, and encourages new collaborations.
To support this a tool to capture the impact of research in health and care organisations has been developed. The VICTOR tool is designed to discover the perspectives of research teams, clinicians, patients and families on the changes that occur as a result of clinical research. These changes are often invisable to others but they can make a significant impact on patient and staff experience. VICTOR identifies changes in workforce, skills, service delivery, patient experience, and economic benefits, often described as the by-products of research.
Information is gathered through questionnaires sent to research participants, clinicians, managers, and researchers, focusing on the specific impacts of being involved in a research study. Findings are categorised into six domains:
The NIHR Yorkshire and Humber Clinical Research Network has funded VICTORs development and turned it into an online e-platform.
Previous users have found VICTOR can help demonstrate the importance of research in NHS organisations, CGC inspections and quality reports. It also helps to highlight research impacts for clinical academic Allied Health Professionals.
The video What is VICTOR? gives you a brief introduction. The video called VICTOR Overview Presentation 2024 explains how it can be used.
The VICTOR tool is available for free download from an online repository. https://www.e-repository.clahrc-yh.nihr.ac.uk/visible-impact-of-research/.
