The CAHPR vision is to improve the health and care of the UK through Allied Health Professions (AHP) research, evidence-based practice, evaluation, and innovation.

Together, the CAHPR mission is to promote excellence and inclusive engagement in research, evidence-based practice, evaluation, and innovation in all allied health professions.  We seek to raise our profile and influence, and improve the experiences, well-being, and outcomes of the diverse communities we work with.

CAHPR origins

CAHPR has gone through a few name changes. In November 2014 The Council for Allied Health Professions Research was launched.

CAHPR was formed from the Research Forum for Allied Health (RFAHP) and the Allied Health Professions Research Network (AHPRN).

The RFAHP was established in November 2000, supported by the AHP federation, as a UK-wide organisation with representatives from England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

The AHPRN was formed in 2011 in response to other AHPs interest in joining the existing National Physiotherapy Research Network (NPRN). Its vision was to create a network of nationwide hubs with expertise in facilitating research.

This year in 2024 we changed one part of our name. We move from the name ‘Council’ to ‘Community. We felt this name change was more in keeping with the ethos of our organisation, as we operate as a community of researchers. We are now the Community for Allied Health Professions Research.
