CAHPR North West are hosting our next CAHPR webinar on the experiences of AHPs in predoctoral fellowships.
This webinar will be presented by Victoria Whiteley and Laura McGarrigle.
Victoria and Laura say: “We’ll share our experience of navigating our research journey from a clinical role, focusing on pre-doctoral fellowships and next steps. We’ll provide honest reflections and practicalities of clinicians trying to develop their role in research.”
This webinar is aimed at AHPs looking at developing their own research ideas and considering a predoctoral fellowship application.
Victoria Whiteley is a Dietitian working in an Advanced Clinical Practitioner role, leading the Ketogenic Diet service at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital. She has specialised in Ketogenic diet therapy for the last 13 years, supporting children with drug resistant epilepsy and underlying neuro metabolic conditions. Her areas of interest include infants, neurometabolic conditions and ways to improve compliance and palatability of dietary management options. In addition to her clinical role, she is also heavily involved in research having just completed a pre-doctoral fellowship with NIHR AGR-GM and is co-chair of the Ketogenic Dietitians Research Network.
Laura McGarrigle is a clinical specialist physiotherapist in heart and lung transplantation at Wythenshawe Hospital in South Manchester. She works with patients with chronic end-stage heart and lung disease and through their post-transplant critical care and ongoing rehabilitation journey. She has a special interest in frailty, prehabilitation and ICU rehabilitation and is part of the UK VAD/transplant physiotherapy network groups. She has previously completed a research internship and is currently completing an NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (Greater Manchester) predoctoral fellowship investigating frailty prior to lung transplantation.
