Implementation of evidence in real services
Webinar hosted by CAHPR Keele on Tuesday 14th May 2024, 12.30 – 1.30pm
Presented by Dr Kristen Sorensen and Dr Sue Skidmore, University of Keele, School of Allied Health Professions.
Want to see evidence impact your practice or service?
We all agree that implementing evidence is essential for quality service delivery and improving patient outcomes. However, with the highly cited 17-year research to practice gap, the journey from knowledge creation to practice integration is taking too long. But healthcare systems and services are complex, time is short, budgets are finite, and change is often perceived as an ‘extra’ task. This webinar will explore these challenges and progress drawing on examples from a current NHS implementation project: a whole systems implementation programme that aims to reduce amputation across the Greater Manchester region. This work involves both NHS and non-NHS services, co-producing achievable interventions that are sustainable, scalable, and measurable directly with the clinicians and other stakeholders who understand the needs of providers, policy makers, those who can benefit from the service, and those who deliver it.
