NIHR Learn

If you have an academic, NHS or an NHS associated organisation email address you can create an account with NIHR Learn. All resources are free once you create an account.

NIHR learn has a wealth of resources and e-learning modules on research.

The Good Clinical Practice in Research module will provide you with the Introduction course to acquire the fundamental knowledge you need to do research with people and you can update your certification for engagement in research projects by doing the refresher course.

The online webinars and events page provides information about general research and also interesting sessions on specific topics e.g. recognising and managing burnout.

They also have a series of e-learning modules aimed at individuals with little or no experience of research. Created by NIHR, selected Royal Colleges and their partners, the modules cover a variety of topics to provide you with new skills to feel more confident to engage with research and research opportunities.

Search in the NIHR box for ‘Getting into Research’ and ‘Introduction to Research’ plus various modules on ‘Delivering Clinical Research’. There are a massive amount of courses to choose from, which are a mixture of written material, power points and videos.

Open University

The Open University have a huge repository of online open access courses. These range from professional skills in communication, personal development (resilience), basic research skills (literature searching) and using digital data to improve work practices.

NHS Health Education England – E-Learning for Health Care

All you need to do is register and there is a wealth of free e-learning material for research. This platform holds many courses designed by different universities it’s a massive online open course platform (MOOC) and courses are free to those registered with an account.

Ethics – Health Research Authority (HRA)
