Activities
We organise on-line research training and activities throughout the year. Please join our mailing list for regular updates. cahpr.london@gmail.com
Our hub runs an annual research conference award. Eligible AHPs can apply for up to £250 to support dissemination of their research at a National or International conference. Applications are open from July with successful applicants notified in September.
We run an annual research celebration evening in London. The next one is planned for December 2024. Further details to follow.
Meet the CAHPR London Facilitators
Harriet Shannon
Harriet Shannon is a physiotherapy based at the University College London (UCL), Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health. She specialises in cardiorespiratory and paediatrics, with a particular interest in interventions for children with critical illness or complex conditions.
Gita Ramdharry
Dr Gita Ramdharry is a clinical academic Physiotherapist working as a Consultant Allied Health Professional in Neuromuscular Diseases at the Queen Square Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, UCLH. She is an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL Institute of Neurology and Principal Investigator for the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Research Group, UCL Department of Neuromuscular Diseases.
Caroline Alexander
Caroline Alexander is the lead clinical academic for allied health professionals at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and professor of practice (musculoskeletal physiotherapy). Her research interests include understanding mechanisms related to motor control, muscle physiology, biomechanics of movement and more, which may support improvements in targeting physiotherapeutic interventions. Prof Alexander has mentored numerous AHPs at all levels and supervises BSc, MSc, MRes, PhD and post doctoral projects undertaken at Imperial College and other universities.
Cherry Kilbride
Cherry Kilbride is a physiotherapist and Professor of neurorehabilitation at Brunel University London and lead allied health professional for research at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. Cherry is a mixed methods researcher and her research interests investigates how rehabilitation interventions, including the development of technology, help people with neurological conditions (i.e. stroke, multiple sclerosis, traumatic brain injury and cerebral palsy) to live and age well. Cherry is an experienced AHP research supervisor and mentor across all levels from MSc to post doctoral.
Natasha Schoeler
Natasha Schoeler is a senior research fellow at UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and specialist paediatric dietitian at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children (GOSH). She specialises in the area of ketogenic diet therapies for neurological conditions, and has worked on genetic laboratory and bioinformatics work, clinical trials, meta-analysis and qualitative research. She completed her PhD on genetic predictors of response to ketogenic diets in 2014 and is the founder and chair of the Ketogenic Dietitians Research Network. She is a member of the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN) AHP Committee, Research Champion for AHPs at GOSH, and co-founder of the ‘AHPs in Academia’ network at UCL GOS Institute of Child Health.
Richard Leigh
Richard Leigh is consultant podiatrist at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, a fellow of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) and fellow of the Royal College of Podiatric Medicine where he is currently a director and member of council. His research interests include pathologies related to acute conditions of the lower limb, especially in diabetes, vascular and neurological diseases. He is visiting professor to Perm State Medical University (PSMU), a member of the London Clinical Senate Council and an editorial board member of the Diabetic Foot Journal and the International Wound Journal.
