AHP Research and Innovation 1 year Anniversary Celebration

Building Allied Health Professional (AHP) research and innovation capability, capacity and culture is crucial to delivering safe and effective evidence-based care for the people we serve.

It is necessary for gaining new professional knowledge, improving services and supporting AHPs to thrive and develop their careers.

To do this, AHPs require equitable access to sustainable research support, infrastructures and investment.

On January 25th, 2023, the one-year anniversary celebration of the Health Education England AHP Research and Innovation Strategy took place

This hybrid event, delivered by HEE in conjunction with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, involved a mixture of presentations, research and innovation news, resources and posters.

Highlights included plenary sessions by Dr Hazel Roddam – introducing the strategy and a plenary panel reflecting on how the strategy has been implemented over the last year.

Meera Sharma and Dr Anita Atwal highlighted the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion in AHP research and innovation. The event concluded with Beverley Harden offering insight into future implementation plans.

Dr Roddam said she is delighted with how the Strategy has developed over the past 12 months and is excited about what the future may bring:

This landmark online event celebrated the significant progress in the visibility and impact that has been achieved in just one year since the publication of this Strategy.

This step change in recognition of the importance and value of AHP research and innovation has been evident nationally, regionally and locally. We all look forward with anticipation to the ongoing impetus of this campaign.
